The tiny, fragile larvae of shrimp are extremely prone to stress factors. Water quality parameters that influence the metamorphosis and health of crustacean larvae, such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and ammonia fluctuate widely. Toxic metabolites such as ammonia, nitrite and sulfites accumulate in the tanks as the larvae grow. Hatchery practices like water exchange, crowding, transferring and handling introduce microbial pathogens into the culture systems.

When unfavorable environmental factors combine with microbial pathogens, the result is stress that leads to poor growth, weak larvae, disease and mortality.

DESCRIPTION
Efinol EL is a combination of microbial cultures and selected nutrients for use in shrimp and other crustacean hatcheries at life stages (zoea to mysis) that depend on live algal feeding. This combination has been scientifically shown to counteract the stressful conditions of hatcheries and improve health and survival of early crustacean larvae.

APPEARANCE
Efinol EL is off-white to tan colored free flowing powder, with a bland odor. Change in product color does not affect product performance.

STABILITY
Efinol EL is stable for 12 months from the date of manufacture.

STORAGE
Efinol EL should be stored in a cool dry place away from sunlight. Keep the container closed when not in use.
