Pelex® Dry The Low-Inclusion Binder for Superior Pelleting of all Animal Feeds Importance of Pellet Binders in Animal Feeds The nutritional and economic benefits of pelleted feed to all kinds of livestock species has been adequately documented by researchers over several decades. Pelleting of feed improves livestock performance by increasing gelatinization of starches, preventing segregation of micro-ingredients, reducing the microbial load, etc. On the economic front, pelleting lowers storage and transportation costs through increased bulk density and reprocessing costs through minimized dust and fines in feed. Apart from these, pelleting as a tool, offers flexibility of including dusty or cheaper ingredients in feed formulation. Several binders, natural and synthetic, have been tried over years with variable success in terms of nutritional and economic efficiency. Some natural binders such as gums, waxes and lignin improve binding and pellet quality, but at high inclusion levels. Other natural binders such as modified starches, high-gluten wheat flour and wheat gluten do improve pellet binding. But, they are limited by their high inclusion levels, occupying undue extent of nutritional space in the feed formula and exerting higher costs. Further, variations in binding ability occur in natural binders cause variations in the durability and hardness of pellets. A good quality and efficient pellet binder will provide advantage to the feed manufacturer by offering opportunities for greater formulation flexibility, cost reduction per unit binding capacity, and consistent quality pellets. Synthetic binders based on Urea formaldehyde resins outperform the naturals in pelleting efficiency on feed given similar conditions. Synthetic binders are activated by moisture and temperature in the pelleting process. These binders are space-network polymer resins that provide the structural support to feed ingredient particles to bond into a cohesive, durable pellet. The recent challenge has been a low inclusion binder that offers a good quality pellet with superior durability and hardness. DESCRIPTION Pelexâ Dry is an advanced generation synthetic thermo reactive pellet binder that produces quality feed pellets with superior durability and hardness at low inclusion levels. FEATURES · Pelex® Dry is a thermo-reactive resin with excellent binding qualities · Pelex® Dry contains catalyzing agents to balance the reactivity of resin · Pelex® Dry is effective at low inclusion levels · Pelex® Dry has exceptionally low levels of free formaldehyde · Pelex® Dry has free flow and anti-caking agents BENEFITS · Pelex® Dry aids production of high quality pellets with superior durability and hardness · Pelex® Dry helps minimize production costs by reducing fines and dust (no reprocessing costs) · Pelex® Dry spares nutritional space in feed formulation · Pelex® Dry is nutritionally inert and does not react with nutrients in feed · Pelex® Dry offers flexibility of including high dust low cost feed ingredients to reduce feed formulation costs · Pelex® Dry helps easy handling and storing of feeds · Pelex® Dry is non-toxic and has no residual effects COMPOSITION Pelex® Dry is a synergistic combination of modified urea formaldehyde resin and catalyzing agents along with free-flow and anti caking agents. INCLUSION LEVELS Pelex® Dry is recommended at the rate of 1 – 3 kg per ton of feed depending on feed formulation and processing conditions. Low levels of natural binders in formulation, short conditioning time and large grind size would require higher inclusion levels of Pelex® Dry. Please consult your Nutritionist or Technical Services Cell of Bentoli for further assistance APPLICATION Pelex® Dry is recommended to be added directly into the Mixer. For best results, ensure accurate addition and thorough mixing of the product. APPEARANCE Pelex® Dry is a white hygroscopic powder with a mild odor. Change in color of the product does not affect its performance. AUTHORIZATION The ingredients of Pelex® Dry are approved for sale and use in animal feeds by FDA in the USA. Pelex® Dry has no residual effect or withdrawal periods. STABILITY Pelex® Dry is stable for 12 months from the date of manufacture. STORAGE Pelex® Dry should be stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Keep the container closed when not in use. Pelex® Dry is highly hygroscopic in nature and hence proper storage precautions are necessary. PRESENTATION Pelex® is available in 25kg (55lb) heat sealed PE bags. COMPATIBILITY Pelex® Dry is compatible for use with all commonly used feed ingredients and premixes. GUARANTEED ANALYSIS pH - 7.3 – 7.7 Moisture - 3 % Particle Size - 15% retained on 200 mesh
