Stress Factors in Pond Environment
Rapid changes in water quality are inevitable in pond culture. Water quality parameters that influence the growth and health of aquatic animals such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and ammonia fluctuate daily and seasonally.
Toxic metabolites such as nitrites and sulfites accumulate in ponds as animals grow. Culture practices like water exchange and handling, birds and other animals entering the pond environment, and human activities introduce microbial pathogens into the pond. When unfavorable environmental factors combine with microbial pathogens, the result is stress that leads to poor growth and feed conversion, disease, morbidity and mortality.

DESCRIPTION
Efinol PT is a highly concentrated microbial culture for use in shrimp and fish ponds.
The specially selected organisms have been scientifically shown to counteract the stressful conditions of ponds in two ways:
- through colonization of ponds, improving the pond environment; and
- through colonization of the intestinal walls of aquatic animals keeping their gut healthy.

COMPOSITION
Efinol PT is composed of beneficial microbes like
Bacillus subtilis
Bacillus licheniformis
Bacillus coagulans
Lactobacillus acidophilus
Streptococcus faecium
Saccharomyces cerevisiae
along with free-flow and anti-caking agents.

CAUTION
Efinol PT is not recommended for use in pelleted and extruded feeds except as Top-Coat, as certain microbial cultures of the product are susceptible to such high temperatures.
Alternatively, Efinol FG, which is specifically designed to tolerate processing temperatures is recommended for use in pelleted and extruded feeds.

APPLICATION & USAGE RATES
Efinol PT is a dry, granular product containing live, but dormant microorganisms. Prior to application, the microbes should be activated by mixing the required quantity of Efinol PT in water. After activation, the mixture may be applied directly to water or through feed as a top coating.
Efinol PT usage rates depend on stocking density, size of the animals and degree of stressful conditions in culture. General recommendations for shrimp culture are provided below. Please discuss with your farm consultant or Bentoli Technical Services for further assistance.

APPLICATION: DIRECTLY IN POND WATER
Mix Efinol PT and water at a ratio of 1:10. Leave the mixture for 30 minutes with occasional stirring or gentle aeration for uniform mixing. Spread the mixture on pond water surface evenly.

Amount of Efinol PT required for the pond for one week = 2.5 ha x 0.8 kg/ha = 2 kg

APPLICATION: THROUGH TOP-COATED FEED
Mix Efinol PT and water at a ratio of 1:5. Leave the mixture for 30 minutes, with occasional stirring and gentle aeration for uniform mixing. Add this mixture to the feed and mix well to obtain uniform coating.

Amount of Efinol PT per day = 200 kg x 5 g/kg = 1 kg
· Apply once a day in the first or last feed ration of the day.
· Double Efinol PT feeding rates during periods of known stress (transport, molting, changing from quarter to full moons, disease outbreaks, DO drops, increased shrimp mortality).
· Ensure that the feeds coated with Efinol PT are distributed evenly in the pond.

APPEARANCE
Efinol PT is off-white to tan colored free flowing powder, with a bland odor. Change in product color does not affect product performance.

STABILITY
Efinol PT is stable for 12 months from the date of manufacture.

STORAGE
Efinol PT should be stored in a cool dry place away from sunlight. Keep the container
closed when not in use.

PRESENTATION
Efinol PT is available in 1kg pouches and 20 kg heat sealed PE bags.

COMPATIBILITY
Efinol PT is compatible for use with all commonly used additives in feeds and ponds.
